Netball: U14s make Nationals

The College U14s Netball side have qualified for the National Schools Finals after reaching the final of the regional round in Truro on Saturday 30th January.

The U14s came top of their group, beating the likes of Canford, King’s College Taunton and Penryn College.

They faced Cheltenham College in the semi-final and secured a 13-9 victory which secured qualification for the National Schools Finals in Brighton on Saturday 19th March.

Training for this tournament has been extremely demanding and it was great to see their hard work pay off. The girls were determined and fought until the final whistle, despite Harriet Eyles sustaining an ankle injury in the final match against Millfield. Finishing runner-up for the South West Region is an incredible achievement and shows how extremely talented this team is.

Special mention must go to Poppy Cripwell who scored 42 of our 53 goals and to Tate Oliphant for her movement and accurate passing, which created the opportunity for our success. Captain Mimi Green played centre for the whole day and was solid in bringing the ball down the court and feeding into the shooters. Harriet Eyles made numerous interceptions and added a lot of pressure to our opponents making her the player of the day.

Squad: Tate Oliphant (MO Sh), Miranda Aitchison (MM Sh), Poppy Cripwell (MM Sh), Ali Cameron (MM Sh), Rosie Pembroke (EL Sh), Mimi Green (Captain) (MM Sh), Lily Pilkington (EL Sh), Harriet Eyles (MM Sh), Lila Greenwood (NC Sh)
