Match Report
Marlborough College Boys-U14A vs  Radley/ Wellington/ Harrow
On: Saturday, 22 May 2021
Venue: Away

All 8 boys represented the College very well at the weekend in the annual quadrangular tournament between Radley, Harrow, Wellington and Marlborough, despite the long journey to Harrow and the slightly damp conditions.

The day started well with a comfortable but well-fought victory in our round against Wellington; Kai Neu performed particularly well at 7th seed, beating his opponent 8-0. Our next round against Harrow was tougher: Will and Peter Langdale did well to draw 4-4 in their respective 3rd and 6th seed contests, while the 2nd pair of Will Langdale and Zac White achieved a good 5-3 victory.

At the start of the 3rd round Marlborough, Wellington and Radley were all roughly equal on around 90 games apiece, and the boys dealt with the pressure well to beat Radley narrowly. Particularly well done to Arthur Munn and Peter Langdale (5th and 6th seeds) who each beat their opponents 7-1, and to Elliot Ransome at 1st seed who fought hard to win 5-3 at the end of a sometimes challenging day.

Overall, Marlborough placed second behind Harrow, who were worthy winners. Well done to all the boys for their competitive spirit and enduring enthusiasm despite a long day of tennis; thanks too to Harrow for their generous hosting and to the parents who braved the showers to come and support the boys.

Final results:

1st - Harrow (177 games)

2nd - Marlborough (144 games)

3rd - Wellington (135 games)

4th - Radley (120 games)
