v Sherborne Lost 4-5 Mia Kingsmill-Moore (2), Leila Fitzsimmons, Emma Kirkwood

The quality of the opposition in our draw was high. The first game was again St Mary’s Calne and the tempo was high. We struggled to settle against the strong opposition but 2 goals from Mia Kingsmill-Moore and Ottie Hunt kept us in contention. SMC piled on the pressure in the second half and showed us and the spectators their quality.

The second match saw us up against a strong Godolphin team who seemed to score their first two goals before the starting whistle had gone quiet. Mia Kingsmill-Moore and Emma Kirkwood scored a goal each in response to the unrelenting Godolphin attack. When we did get the ball, we were immediately put under pressure and a turnover was forced. Freya Høgevold (our last-minute goalkeeper replacement) was a powerful presence in goal and made an impressive 5 saves.

The final game was the wooden spoon match against Sherborne Girls. We had learnt much about ourselves in the previous matches and we were determined to show what we were capable of. The lead went back & forth but unfortunately it was with SGS when the final whistle sounded. The result was a disappointment but the progress throughout the tournament lessened the pain.
