Match Report
Marlborough College U14 A vs  Sherborne Girls
On: Saturday, 05 Nov 2022
Venue: Away

A game of marvellous teamwork, the U14 team started tentatively against Sherborne with opportunities at both ends. A goal from Daisy close to the crease and one off a fast break from Amelie in the centre made the score 2 all at the end of the first quarter. With the motivating message from Mrs Marvin to fight for every ball more, the girls started the 2nd quarter strong with great crashing in defence, specifically Mira who moved to play in defence this week. A lovely feed from behind from Ottilie to Mariella resulted in a goal showing brilliant teamwork to confuse the opposition defence. Goals also game here from Amelie and Daisy.

At half time, the score was 5-2 to Marlborough and the team continued to push despite some good opportunities on goal from Sherborne. The Marlborough defence put on high pressure, causing errors. Another great partnership between Mariella and Ava in attack. Sherborne got away slightly in this quarter despite some good saves from Alexis making the score 6-4 to Marlborough going in to quarter 4. The final quarter was evenly matched with two goals for each team including one for Marlborough from a great drive to goal from Ottilie.

Players of the match go to Mira who slid and crashed well in the defence on to the threatening players and Mary whose consistency in defence and picking up of loose balls put the pressure on to Sherborne. Well done also to Ava, who created some good opportunities around goal in the attack.
